Class size for the discussions will be limited to 12 participants. Holding a Hot Topic Discussion is a great way to satisfy the Leadership Mastery Project requirement for the Genius of Connecticut Certificate for Leadership Mastery.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Topic matter and execution of the Hot Topic is extremely flexible. Some ideas to choose from may include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A conversation around an article of the presenter&#8217;s choice<\/li>\n<li>A further discussion about a training topic that inspired the presenter<\/li>\n<li>A discussion around a TED Talk that motivated the presenter (www.TED.com)<\/li>\n<li>A concept from a particular book that the presenter chooses<\/li>\n<li>Sharing of information around a specialized skill related to the legislative process<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Before leading a Hot Topic Discussion, the leader will meet with Learning &amp; Development to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Consult about the topic<\/li>\n<li>Strategize about how to lead a productive and positive conversation<\/li>\n<li>Set up a time, date, and Zoom link or meeting room<\/li>\n<li>Decide on how to publicize the Hot Topic Discussion<\/li>\n<li>Make all the arrangements for creating a comfortable and supportive environment for the discussion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Email Molly.McAllister@cga.ct.gov to brainstorm ideas and get started!<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Hot Topic Discussion is a one-hour participant led meeting around a topic that falls under one of the eight L&amp;D skill set categories.
