Are you interested in state history or the legislative process?
Would you like to use your public speaking skills to share that information with enthusiasm to those who visit our Capitol?
Then become a State Capitol VOLUNTEER TOUR GUIDE!
The League of Women Voters of Connecticut Education Fund has run Capitol Information and tours under the sponsorship of the Joint Committee on Legislative Management of the Connecticut General Assembly since 1971.
We provide tours to over 33,000 visitors a year, from third grade students to senior citizens.
Volunteer tour guides donate over 1,000 hours a year.
Most guides work two hour shifts, once a week, but scheduling is flexible. Free parking is provided.
Training for volunteers is done on an individual basis.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and able to do extensive walking between buildings and up three flights of stairs.
Guides must complete a training program and pass a tour evaluation. (This is not a viable option for mandatory community service.)
Come in and take a tour to see what it is like, then call (860) 240-0222 for more information or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
As soon as you begin giving tours on your own, you will receive a voucher redeemable at the Legislative Office Building cafeteria as our thank you for volunteering.
We’re confident that you will find this activity exciting and rewarding!
Please let us know if you are interested and can make a commitment to our program.
