Information Technology Specialist

Hours: Full-Time (40 hours per week)

Typical Starting Salary Range – $96,179 – $122,149 / year

Commensurate with qualifications and experience


Summary of Position:


This class is responsible for performing full-stack PHP web development and programming, assisting in data based analytical reviews, and other duties as assigned. An IT Specialist works independently or under the direction of supervising staff.

Examples of Duties:


In the office of the Auditors of Public Accounts (APA), responsible for: managing the complete software development process from conception to deployment; maintaining and upgrading the software following deployment; managing the end-to-end life cycle for the production of web-based software and applications; analyzing, writing, building, and deployment of web-based software; providing feedback to management during the development process; modifying and testing changes to previously developed software.

Preferred Skills and Abilities:


Expertise in front-end technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript; expertise in developing web applications with PHP; familiarity with DBMS technology, including Oracle, MySQL, MariaDB, SQL Server; including knowledge of UI/UX and basic prototype design; considerable experience working in a Windows, Apache, MariaDB or MySQL, and PHP environment; strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to visualize, plan and build a proposed system; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with agency personnel, associates, and the public.

Training and Experience:


  • At least three (3) years of employment performing the duties of a full-stack PHP developer
  • Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field is required (including but not limited to computer science, cybersecurity, data science, information technology, and networking).
  • Candidates who have also completed a Master’s Degree in a related field, who possess one or more relevant certifications, including but not limited to those obtained from Oracle, Microsoft, or IBM, will be will be given strong preference.

Substitutions Allowed:


A master’s degree may be substituted for one (1) additional year of general experience.
