The Auditors of Public Accounts\u2019 mission is to make Connecticut\u2019s government work efficiently and to protect state resources from waste, fraud, and abuse.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nWould you like to use your evaluation and analysis skills to help make a difference in the lives of Connecticut residents? If so, we\u2019d like you to consider joining our team as a Program Analyst\/Performance Auditor I.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"grey-block-fw\">\n<h2 class=\"hr-text\">The Job:<\/h2>\n<hr class=\"hr-line\" \/>\n<p>This position assists in conducting performance audits of state agencies (example: The Department of Transportation), quasi-public agencies (example: CT Lottery Corporation) or state-supported institutions (example: CT State Universities). <\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll be helping to determine whether state agencies are operating efficiently &#038; effectively, comply with laws &#038; regulations, and are accomplishing their goals. <\/p>\n<p>This position\u2019s duties include participating in the creation of audit plans in accordance with government auditing standards. On any given day, you\u2019ll be examining, analyzing, and testing the internal controls, policies, and procedures of state agencies for compliance with state or federal laws and regulations.<\/p>\n<p>In this role, you\u2019ll use your judgement to develop recommendations for improvements. You\u2019ll operate under the supervision of a senior analyst\/auditor who reviews work for effectiveness and conformance with policy. Also, you\u2019ll perform related work as required.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"grey-block-fw\">\n<h2 class=\"hr-text\">What You&#8217;ll Bring:<\/h2>\n<hr class=\"hr-line\" \/>\n<ul>\n<li>Knowledge of performance auditing standards or program evaluation principles and practices.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to collect and interpret performance-related data.<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with research methods and design.<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency in the use of spreadsheets and statistical software.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to plan and organize work efficiently and effectively.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to adapt to the special demands of the job and meet deadlines.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with agency personnel, associates, and the public.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to manage and resolve conflicts in a positive and constructive manner.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work effectively in pressure situations and respond well to unusual circumstances.<\/li>\n<li>Proven aptitude for clear and concise written and oral communications.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to read and interpret laws, rules, regulations, and contractual provisions.<\/li>\n<li>Aptitude for analytical thinking and problem solving.<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with federal &#038; state laws, rules and regulations, and governmental operations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"grey-block-fw\">\n<h2 class=\"hr-text\">Minimum Qualifications:<\/h2>\n<hr class=\"hr-line\" \/>\n<ul>\n<li>Successful completion of a bachelor\u2019s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in a field related to performance auditing.<\/li>\n<li>One year of employment in professional performance audit or program evaluation work. Disciplines considered relevant to performance auditing include, but are not limited to, public administration, social sciences, political science, statistics, accounting, journalism, business, economics, and law.
