April is Autism Awareness Month and during the month of April the African American Sub Commission raises awareness, promotes acceptance, and ignites change!<\/p>\n

Black and Hispanic children continued to be less likely identified with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, (ASD) leading them to face socioeconomic and other barriers that lead to a lack of or delayed access to evaluation, diagnosis, and services.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The African American Sub Commission hosts an annual event: \u201cAutism: Raising Awareness at the State Capitol<\/i><\/b>\u201d. It is a full day of activities in support of Autism advocacy. This day includes personal impacted stories from a multi-cultural panel of speakers, includes state officials, legislators, individuals with autism, as well as parents of autistic children. Information tables are set up and various autism organizations from across the state come to the Capitol to share information about the resources and services they provide to the autism community. This event is always free, and the public is encouraged to attend. If you are interested in attending or participating in \u201c2025 Autism: Raising Awareness at the State Capitol<\/i><\/b>\u201d feel free to contact the African American Sub Commission.<\/p>\n
