Did you know… on September 22, 1780, General George Washington and Comte de Rochambeau met for the first time in Hartford, on the very site where Connecticut’s Old State House stands today? Their meeting forged the French-American alliance which helped turn the tide of the Revolution.<\/p>\n

Two hundred and forty-six years later…. <\/b><\/p>\n

Presentation by Dr. Anthony Martin, Central Connecticut State University, examining the contradictions in Washington and Rochambeau as military leaders fighting for freedom, and as enslavers.<\/p>\n

Guided Outdoor Walking Tour<\/b> exploring Hartford\u2019s and Connecticut\u2019s Revolutionary War history <\/p>\n

Mount Vernon Resources for Teaching about Washington and Slavery<\/b>
Presentation by Brenda Haenchen, George Washington Teacher Institute 250 Ambassador, who will share an array of classroom-ready resources from Mount Vernon and the George Washington Teacher Institute, including primary sources and lesson plans developed by teachers across the country.<\/p>\n

A Visit to Museum of Connecticut History<\/b> to see Connecticut’s Revolution<\/i><\/b>, the new exhibit that examines our state\u2019s role in the founding of the United States and showcases treasures from the Connecticut State Library\u2019s rich collections.<\/p>\n

Parking at State House Square Parking Garage, located at 75 Market Street, costs a maximum of $10 with validation from Connecticut\u2019s Old State House. Metered street parking is available. Free on-street parking is available after 6 pm and on weekends. Please follow posted parking instructions.<\/p>\n
