Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Council

The Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Council is convened by the Commission on Women, Children, Seniors, Equity and Opportunity (CWCSEO) chaired by Representative Jillian Gilchrest. The Council was formerly run by the Permanent Commission on the Status of Women. The council consists of members from a diversity of backgrounds, including representatives from state agencies, the judicial branch, law enforcement, motor transport and community-based organizations that work with victims of sexual and domestic violence and immigrants and refugees, and address behavioral health needs and social justice and human rights.

The TIP Council is responsible for:

(1) Holding meetings to provide updates and progress reports.
(2) Identifying criteria for providing services to adult trafficking victims.
(3) Identifying criteria for providing services to children of trafficking victims; and
(4) Consulting with governmental and nongovernmental organization in developing  
      recommendations to strengthen state and local efforts to prevent trafficking, protect victims of trafficking, and prosecute traffickers.

Human Trafficking Police Reporting

Pursuant to Public Act 16-71 municipal chief of police are annually required to report by October 1st of each year to the Commission and the Trafficking in Person’s Council.
