2025 Presentation Skills Series

Workshops 1, 2, and 3

Many positions in our organization involve staff members making formal and informal presentations to colleagues, the public, or legislators.  The best way to fine-tune your public speaking is to practice it.  This workshop allows new presenters to learn useful tips for successful presentations and gives practiced presenters a venue to brush up on their skills for increased effectiveness.  The work we do together in these classes is based around the idea that “Public speaking is not a talent – it is a skill.”

During this series we will:

  • Discuss the qualities of great speakers and identify how to emulate them
  • Examine the ways we communicate and how to increase our effectiveness when presenting both in-person and online
  • Learn how to “read” the audience and respond accordingly
  • Use a Key Idea Outline to prepare our presentations
  • Strategize on how to handle impromptu presentations
  • Explore the best ways to handle questions and manage difficult situations
  • Practice presenting in front of our small, supportive group

Each participant who completes all three workshops and holds an Application Conversation will receive The Eagle Certificate for Presentation Skills. Class size is limited to maintain a  supportive environment for learning. Participants will deliver a short three to five-minute presentation on the final day. Please only register if you are committed to attending all three classes in the series. Series dates are in-person only on Thursdays October 23, 30 and November 6.
