Legislative Basics

Learning how a bill becomes a law takes a lot more information than School House Rocks provided us in their catchy tune from the 1970s. Legislative Basics is a powerful training program that provides an inside look at how legislators collaborate with staff to move an idea into a reality. Participants learn how the legislative process works and how many of the offices in the Legislative Office building are utilized.

Objectives

  • Provide an understanding of the General Assembly culture and environment
  • Review the process of how a bill becomes a law
  • Learn how the nonpartisan offices assist in the legislative process
  • Answer your questions as they relate to legislative basics
