During the 1999 Legislative Session, Public Act 99-180, An Act Concerning Diversity Training for State Employees was passed. The act requires “each state agency that employs one or more employees to provide a minimum of three hours of diversity training and education to all supervisory and non-supervisory employees.”
In this session we will discuss what do you do when you witness a disrespectful act, or hear a troublesome comment. Whether borne out of implicit bias, ignorance or prejudice, your response can be delivered with tact and compassion. Participants will learn how to recognize micro aggressions and micro assaults when they happen and they will explore various ways to address insensitive comments tactfully.
This is a mandatory class for all staff and needs to be taken only one time.
