Citizens can request access to state documents via The Freedom of Information Act, which guarantees the right to see public records and documents. Learn the process for filing under FOI as well as your obligations. Among the topics we will discuss: the definitions of public records and meetings; how to manage requests for public records; rules governing executive sessions; how much access the public actually has; the status of e-mails and other electronic documents.
