Juneteenth 160 – Building Legacy and Mental Wellness

The Commission on Women, Children, Seniors, Equity & Opportunity, the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Commission, and the Connecticut Keep the Promise Coalition invite you to join us in commemorating the 160th anniversary of Juneteenth at the Connecticut State Capitol on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, beginning at 12:30 PM.
This year’s celebration centers on the enduring legacy of Black resilience and liberation, while elevating the importance of mental wellness in our communities. The program will include a flag raising ceremony and a panel discussion moderated by Donna Campbell, Chair of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Commission, exploring how historical and present-day injustices impact Black mental health, and will offer powerful insights on healing, cultural pride, and collective strength. Juneteenth, observed on June 19, marks the official end of slavery in the United States. It is a day of remembrance, reflection, and recommitment to justice, healing, and equity.
