Craig A. Miner was appointed serve as one of Connecticut’s two state auditors in April 2024.  

Prior to his appointment, Miner served three terms (2017 – 2022) in the State Senate representing the 30th District after eight terms serving the people of the 66th House District. The 30th State Senate District is the largest geographically in the state comprising the communities of Brookfield, Canaan, Cornwall, Goshen, Kent, Litchfield, Morris, New Milford, North Canaan, Salisbury, Sharon, Torrington, Warren, and Winchester.

As a state senator, Senator Miner was the Republican Ranking Member on the legislature’s Appropriations and Environment Committees. In addition, Senator Miner served on the Regulation Review Committee and Screening Committee, where he served as chairman.

Senator Miner also served national organizations. He served as Connecticut’s legislative representative on the 15-state Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission, a cooperative aimed at protecting and managing marine fisheries within state jurisdiction. He belonged to the National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Caucuses and co-chaired the Connecticut Sportsmen Caucus.

Prior to his election to the Connecticut General Assembly, Senator Miner served as First Selectman of the Town of Litchfield from 1991 to 2001. His administration successfully promoted open government and maintained a stable tax base throughout the 1990s.

Senator Miner’s extensive public service background also includes serving on the state’s Sheff vs. O’Neill panel, E911 Commission which advises in the planning, design, implementation, and coordination of the statewide emergency 9-1-1 telephone system, and as chairman of the Litchfield Hills Council of Elected Officials. Since 1977, he held sales and management positions in several local automotive dealerships. He also owned and operated the Litchfield Filling Station from 1989 to 1998.

He is married to his wife, Margy, and resides in Litchfield. He has three children and four grandchildren.
