- An Audit Trainee will participate in all facets of audit work.
- You will be assigned a supervisor and work as part of an audit team. The average size of an audit team is three to four people. Separately, you will be assigned a mentor through your trainee period.
- The mentorship program is designed to help new auditors better integrate into the culture of the APA and acclimate to their new responsibilities. The program will compliment your initial training and the relationships you will establish with your audit team and supervisor.
- An employee orientation has been established to introduce new, permanent audit staff members to our office, to familiarize them with agency operations, and to explain our audit functions. On-the-job training is provided as well.
- Trainees are primarily assigned to audits located in the Greater Hartford Area and are required to have an automobile. There is no out-of-state travel.
- The workday consists of 8 hours per day. The hours are flexible but must be within the limits of 7:30AM and 5:30PM with a minimum 30 minute lunch period. There is no overtime.
- Yes. A generous package of beneifts is available.
- Employees are expected to wear “smart casual attire” at a minimum. That is, professional and appropriate to the business environment that fit the individual circumstances. At times, business professional attire is appropriate for meetings with management, commissioners, executive directors, etc.
- No, but it is encouraged.
- Yes, the APA reimburses for courses taken as part of a degree program in accounting or other related fields, dependent on available funding and other restrictions.
- Yes, while employed at the APA, you will earn year-for-year experience towards becoming certified.
- A trainee should have a knowledge of computers. Our office utilizes Microsoft Office.
- The full-time hiring process is conditional upon the Legislature’s approval to fill positions. The process normally involves two interviews. All individuals that have submitted resumes will be contacted.
- Promotions to Auditor I are considered after one year of employment.
