HARTFORD, CT: The Connecticut Democracy Center is leading the state’s participation in national Civic Learning Week from Monday, March 10th through Friday, March 14th, 2025. This week-long celebration unites students, educators, and other leaders across the country to energize the movement for civic education.

In recognition of this important week, Governor Ned Lamont has issued a proclamation recognizing March 10th-14th as Civic Learning Week in Connecticut. The proclamation states, “Connecticut will continue to commit to the importance of civic learning by providing elementary and secondary school students with positive and engaging civic learning opportunities and engaging the public to promote awareness.” Governor Lamont’s Civic Learning Week proclamation and a special citation from Secretary of the State Stephanie Thomas will be displayed at Connecticut’s Old State House (800 Main Street, Hartford) from Tuesday, March 11th-Saturday, March 15th from 12:00pm-5:00pm.

CivxNow, a national cross-partisan civic education coalition created by iCivics, leads national Civic Learning Week. As a state affiliate of CivxNow, the Connecticut Democracy Center is leading efforts in Connecticut.

“Many Connecticut organizations provide quality civic education opportunities for educators and students,” said Sally Whipple, Executive Director of the Connecticut Democracy Center at Connecticut’s Old State House. “Civic Learning Week gives us a chance to promote those programs, help schools engage with them, and remind people of the value of strong civic education.”
