About the Artist:

The Lost Tribe is a world music jazz afro-funk instrumental collective from Connecticut formed in late 2017 and led by percussionist/drummer Jocelyn Pleasant. Their sound winds through many genres that are rooted in West African rhythms. The music of The Lost Tribe tends to revolve around the djembe playing of Seny Camara. With Camara as the lead “voice” of the group, Pleasant supports and drives the music with an eclectic drum kit set up that is part American (snare and cymbals), part African (dun dun and sangban), and part Latin (bongos and cajon). The rest of the core band includes Doug Wilson on guitar, Joel Hewitt on bass, Mike Carabello on keyboard (you can see his solo act as a part of the Summer Concert Series on September 24), Nathan Davis on trombone, and Karim Rome on tenor sax.
About the Summer Concert Series:
The Summer Concert Series at Connecticut’s Old State House is sponsored by the Richard P. Garmany Fund of the Hartford Foundation of Public Giving and the Evelyn Preston Memorial Fund.
