Connecticut’s Kid Governor® is a national award-winning civics program created by The Connecticut Democracy Center at Connecticut’s Old State House. This immersive approach to civics education gives fifth graders a first-hand look at state government, voting, and civic participation through an authentic election for a Kid Governor each November. Once elected, the Kid Governor and their Cabinet have an office in the historic Governor’s Office at Connecticut’s Old State House and serve a one-year term of leadership. The Connecticut’s Kid Governor® and national Kid Governor® programs are both in residence at Connecticut’s Old State House. They are presented with funding and partnership support from CT Humanities and the Gawlicki Family Foundation.
